Visiting the United Arab Emirates should definitely be on your “to-do” list. Some of the most amazing places and vibrant cities are located in this part of the world and it would be a shame to miss an opportunity to experience what it feels like living in them, at least for a short while. Still, you might be a bit apprehensive about the culture and whether the behaviour accepted where you live would also be appropriate in the UAE. Also, the climate there is most likely quite different from the one you’re used to, so you have to be ready for that, too. So, what is it that you should pack if you decide to go on a trip to the UAE?

Clothes

TRIP TO THE UAE

To begin with, you can expect some extremely hot days while in Dubai or any other city in the UAE. And by hot, we mean scorching, especially in summer. Winter nights can be chilly, though, which means you need some long-sleeved items of clothing if you’re visiting in that period. Otherwise, make sure you wear bright and light clothes, made of natural material. Also, make sure your clothes is comfortable and loose enough, so that you don’t feel hot.

Hats and sunglasses are an absolute must and they are not only practical, but can also be quite stylish and help you pull off the look you want. Don’t hesitate to invest in top-quality sunglasses, since you’ll definitely need the best possible protection from the sun in the UAE.

Dress codes on the trip to the UAE

Depending on the part of the UAE you’re visiting, you may have to adhere to certain dress codes. While Dubai is the most cosmopolitan and open-minded when it comes to the way people dress, some other cities are much more traditional and conservatives. So, make sure you check out what kind of clothes might be appropriate for going around the city and visiting places, such as shopping malls. You’ll find that some frown at those wearing too short skirts or shorts and you might even be denied access to one of them if your clothes is seen as too revealing.

What is universally accepted?

Maxi dresses and linen trousers are not only fashionable and great for very high temperatures, but they will also be approved of in every part of the UAE. Sandals are also a safe bet, and so are long skirts. When it comes to swimsuits, it depends on whether you’ll be hitting local public beaches, or simply decide to relax in in the hotel pool. Fashionable high waisted bottoms are another option worth considering, especially if you choose to enjoy your time by a pool. Finally, blouses are recommended because they are both a great protection from the sun, but can also cover your arms in places where that is obligatory.

What else?

Don’t forget your passport, mobile phone, tablet, e-book reader or any other gadget you need during your stay in on the trip to the UAE. Just make sure you have all the right chargers with you and possibly a universal travel adapter, if you need one.

When it comes to more clothes you’re planning to pack, if you’re planning to visit one of many exquisite restaurants in the UAE, make sure you have some appropriate clothes for the occasion. The same goes for clubbing, because Dubai (and other cities as well) is famous for some of the most amazing nightclubs. If that’s on your list, pack your best clothes for clubbing.

You’re bound to experience a completely different world in the UAE from the one in which you live. One of the most thriving places in the world, which has become extremely cosmopolitan in general, though some traditional customs you are still expected to obey, and you should by all means respect the local culture and tradition. However, that should not prevent you from having a fabulous time and remember your trip to the UAE for a very long time.
